Meditation - My 'Why'


I struggle to know where to begin when talking about meditation, it’s difficult for me to imagine my life without it now.
It has completely transformed my world.
How?
Because it has changed my mind.

I was an 'overthinker', I found it impossible to quieten my mind/separate myself from the constant thoughts flooding in. I just thought that this was how I was wired and didnt think I could do anything about it. When I started having physical symptoms, I knew something needed to change. I couldn’t sleep at night, I had headaches, heart palpitations, chest pain - you name it, I experienced it. My nervous system was in a constant state of ‘ON’ – feeling on edge was my normal.
I plodded along like this for a long time until the lack of sleep caught up with me and I knew I needed to make a change. I tried meditation every day for 21 days and the rest is history!

Meditation has given me the ability to choose what I focus on, I no longer fall into anxious thinking patterns. If I do, I see it and quickly choose a new perspective. I’m able to ‘’park’’ thoughts – an ability I never thought I’d have! As I continued with meditation, I began to notice other benefits – my sleep is deep and restful, I’m less reactive, I know myself better, my relationships are better, my stress levels have dramatically decreased, even my immune system has improved! There is so much peace to be found when you give yourself silence. It will feel uncomfortable at first but that's only because you’re not used to doing it!
